Family Style. Edging into Autumn and BOOTS!

September 20, 2016 by Lisa Lehmann

If I have to start thinking about autumn and {gasp} winter, at the very least I need to start thinking boots. If you know me at all…I’m ALL about boots. In fact. I may have a problem. Albeit small. Ok, not so small. Fine. I love boots. Many much of boots. All the boots in fact. Yes, I’m done saying boots. For now.

I love boots. Many much of boots. ALL the boots, in fact.

The weather is still warm, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start bringing our wardrobe into fall tones. The best part of this season is that bare legs are still ok. Sleeves are optional. And the color palette is outstanding. And boot(ies). That’s how I’m edging into footwear with covered toes. The good news? I don’t have to worry about painted toes as much! Winning!

My girls are super excited for their new season wardrobe. We had an awesome summer. But, alas, it’s time. Here is how we best take on a tad bit more crispness in the morning, but still full on warm sunshine in the afternoon.

As you may have noticed, sleeves are taking on a new look this season. Bare shoulders and lots of open work. Super fun. I love how Isabel has on a bit more fall like top but yet pairs it with her strappy fun sandals so she’s not QUITE giving up her summer. And apparently now we buy jeans pre-ripped. Personally? I was always good at wearing through my own, but these darn teens don’t want to wait that long, so…we pay for pre-ripped jeans. SMH.

Sleeves are taking on a new look this season!

Tahlia, ever the dress girl found this sweet flow-y dress which is PERFECT for in between. It’s still light enough for now paired with her Sperry’s, but once the leaves start falling all she needs in some funky tights and boots.

Same with my dress. As we have established, sleeves are not my thing. But take this cute SLEEVELESS shift and add booties. Instant autumn. A few weeks down the road I’ll add a cardigan and tights. The color is so rich and delicious. And, this style dress is flattering for pretty much any body shape and size.

Now tell me. Have you dusted off your boots yet? I’m not alone right?

Family Style. All about the blue.

September 6, 2016 by Lisa Lehmann

Last week we were full on summer for family style. This week I’m at least trying on something transitional – I mean…it has sleeves. If you know me at all…I never wear sleeves. Like ever. In fact, when I showed my “back to school list making toilet paper and wine” friend Cris, she asked if I needed scissors. Funny. To her.

Clearly Tahlia is in full denial that school starts today. She is STILL embracing summer style with her strappy sandals and dress. And don’t forget the bralette…that game is strong this year!

I know autumn is coming, I am aware. And I really can’t wait for crunchy leaves and boots. Last fall was such transition. This day last year, the first day of school, it was Isabel’s 16th birthday. We had literally moved into a rental home the day before. Everything was in upheaval. It was over the top stressful. What a difference a year makes. This September I plan on FULLY embracing autumn on the Lake Shore. And…it’s almost time to break out the fall decor! Woot!

I just sent my Senior and Freshman out the door for the first day of school. Strange knowing this is the last year I have multiples in school. And this is the first year they have ever been in the same school. (homeschooled for 10 years).  Time really does fly.

Family Style, plus one. It’s not autumn…yet.

August 30, 2016 by Lisa Lehmann

PSL’s. Boots. Sweaters. I’m all about fall and fall fashion and style. But NOT.YET. I’m embracing summer until they pry the flip flops from my freezing fingers.

These girls don’t start school until next week. This beach life summer has been incredible. So fall? Nope. Not. Yet.

We thought we’d bring you our last bit of summer style…before inevitably the leaves begin to fall. And maybe just maybe I’ll splurge for a PSL this week, but ONLY because it’s going to be September. It’s like one of those “have to’s”. Right?

Are you ready to let go of summer yet?

p.s. my massive birthday sale is this Saturday! Are you on my newsletter list? All the secret details are going out this week! Sign up –>HERE<–!

Trends and Fashion. What do they mean for you?

January 26, 2016 by Lisa Lehmann

Fashion and trends are crazy. It’s the constant battle within us wondering if we SHOULD follow what’s the latest and greatest, or if it really looks as ridiculous to everyone else as it does for us!

I just returned from the Altitude Summit conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Alt is for creatives and bloggers and people like me who live the creative life and do most of our work online. In short? My people!

Besides being ridiculously inspired and bursting full of new ideas…I noticed something. There was something infinitely different about this crowd. Everyone was unique. And not only that. Comfortable in their own skin. Fashion and style ran from conservative to wild. Sparkle to tweed. Ombre’ hair to shaved heads with color. It was amazing. It was so real. These were women embracing who they are and having no fear to be the trend. I loved it.

So while I was going to write about how you and I go about this, I remembered…I did write about that. Quite some time ago. And as I re-read that post from 2012 – yes, almost 4 years ago, I realized nothing has changed. My advice is the same. Be yourself. Find what you love. Be the trend.

I invite you to click back to that post and let me remind you how beautiful and unique you are. Don’t let anyone force you in a box and tell you how you should look. Clearly, I no longer care what anyone else thinks! My hair changes color regularly and I have over a dozen tattoos – not for anyone else but me. Because it makes ME happy. Find your happy. Express it. Be the trend baby.

much much love, lisa

Summer Fashion Staple – gotta have it

July 14, 2015 by Lisa Lehmann

It’s summer. Maybe fashion isn’t at the top of your list. Maybe the words fashion staple isn’t something that regularly slides off your tongue. It’s ok, I get it.

But…if you WERE to buy ONE piece. ONE design. ONE thing you will love from summer into fall and winter too. What if? And what if that item was hand created out of the highest quality softest fabric you can imagine. I’m not kidding here people. This is some serious stuff. Time to up your summer fashion game.

summer fashion staple black shrugMy friend Ria from dressign is an amazing fashion designer based out of Slovakia. She creates clothing items that are incredibly stylish and extremely wearable. That my friends is not a typical mix.

Last year I posted about a sweatshirt she created for me…a sweatshirt I adored. A sweatshirt that my daughter has stolen and was last seen wearing…today! So when Ria asked me if I wanted to try something new, I could barely contain my excitement.

Just look at this shrug – $64! Fits like a sweatshirt – created JUST FOR ME so the sleeves are long for my gorilla arms. It is my must have summer fashion staple. And unrelated…I think I’m beginning to embrace my wrinkles. At almost 46, I think I’ve earned them.

You MUST read Ria’s about page to get a feel for her heart and passion. Her philosophy…this is the part that really sticks with me. Ladies, we are not all created equal, amIright?  That does NOT mean each of us should not entitled to a great fitting fashion staple. We are NOT one size fits all. And Ria gets it. If you have any fitting issues, let her know, there is no extra charge.

What about a “wrap” over your sundress that takes off the chill but doesn’t take away the style of the dress OR look like grandma’s sweater?

There are so many items on Ria’s website that I adore…but if you are going to choose just one, get the shrug. $64 free shipping AND she is offering us a generous 20% off ANY item on her website using the code STUDIOJEWEL until SUNDAY JULY 19! DON’T WAIT. You will never find an item of clothing this stylish. This high quality. This versatile. Hand crafted. In this price range. Like ever.

Go to her site. Stalk her on Facebook and Instagram. And quickly choose your fashion staple. Remember, if you have longer arms…bigger {ahem} girls…or any other body concerns just let her know. And if you are concerned AT ALL with international shipping…don’t be. I ship overseas EVERY day…no exaggeration. It is not a big deal.at.all!

I’m in love with my shrug – I have a million ways I’m going to wear it. But first. To hide it from my photographer! And don’t forget to let me know what you choose!
