Introducing my Patreon page

June 29, 2020 by Lisa Lehmann

The last blog post I wrote on February 11 was right after my mom passed away. Also. It was the day before I found out I had breast cancer. Who knew on that day my life would go into a complete tailspin? Since then so many things have happened. To me personally. To our world. To our country. To say life has given me lemons this year is a massive understatement. However? Oh, the lemonade I have had!

To say life has given me lemons this year is a massive understatement. However? Oh, the lemonade I have had!

I have had to dig deep, very deep, just to get through each day. But I also have a business to run. A business that I love. That I truly cherish. Not because of the income, but because it’s my passion, and the people it has brought into my life…that would be you…mean the world to me. What this meant was doing some serious thinking about the future of Lisa Lehmann Designs. What is next? How do I best continue? What best supports my passion, what I love to create, and my time in the studio? And what supports my clients, my friends and gives them more. How can I best serve, birth new designs, and maintain a sustainable business without exhausting myself and bombarding my clients? How can I reward loyalty and follow my artistic vision?

My short term walking away from the studio in January to care for my mom turned into something I would rather not repeat. For a while, I thought I would lose my business. I thought maybe it’s just time to raise the white flag. Yet. You stood by me.

I have learned MANY lessons this season. One. Is loyalty. From people who are way more than customers to me. Two. Is being innovative when I wasn’t sure I had it in me. And three. The art of asking for help and receiving it. I literally could not do things on my own.

I have learned MANY lessons this season. One. Is loyalty.

Behind the scenes. A look into my studio and my art.

November 22, 2016 by Lisa Lehmann

I don’t often talk about WHAT I do. My art. My work. I try to keep THIS space more about the other side of my life. I never want you to feel inundated with my jewelry.

I don’t often talk about WHAT I do. My art.

my art. Lisa Lehmann the artist goldsmith behind the scenes of Studio Jewel

It is a little funny. Business coach after business coach have told me to use my blog to show my work. Promote and sell. But this space has always been a bit sacred to me. It’s just Lisa. My heart. My passions.  My struggles. My loves. Just me. In that mindset I have protected it from being a place of too much self promotion.

However, this new video I had created tells my story. It gives you a behind the scenes glimpse into my studio and also the “why” behind what I do. I hope you don’t mind me sharing it with you.

This video gives you a behind the scenes glimpse the “why” behind what I do

Fashion over 40. How to capture your Bohemian spirit.

November 2, 2016 by Lisa Lehmann

This post is monetized with affiliate links. If you click and buy something I will probably make some pennies. Yay me.

It’s no secret. I have a bohemian spirit. Artist. Wanderer (in my head). Unconventional. Different. I live conservatively. But in my heart…there is a wild. And most often it comes out in my fashion choices.

I remember trying to pull “outfits” together in my teens. Then? I didn’t get the whole bohemian thing…but it was TOTALLY a part of who I was. [Read more…] about Fashion over 40. How to capture your Bohemian spirit.

That Friday I crumbled. But still. I rise.

September 27, 2016 by Lisa Lehmann

On Friday I crumbled. Not just in my head. Not a few random tears. No. I literally crumbled. My body into a wall…in a corner…on the floor…crumbled. Tears full of hurt and anger and sadness. The wall was there. I slammed into it and I said, “I just can’t anymore.” And then. I crumbled.

As I sat sobbing in my studio with the door closed I wondered if anyone would hear me. Or could see me. Like really SEE me. I wondered if I ever really counted in the first place.

Crumbled.

My body into a wall…in a corner…on the floor…crumbled.

Friday. It was my son’s 21st birthday. My manchild. My oldest. My only son. And as immensely proud as I am of this boy… I cannot fathom that he is 21. Where of the years gone? Where has my life gone? Have I made an impact on him? Is he really prepared for adulthood? Did I fail as a mother? Did I do…enough?

mother son love even at 21.

Am I being unreasonable? Is my thinking unclear? Possibly. I know I have not failed. I know it. He is an amazing human being. But I look at him AND his three sisters and I wonder if I’m doing okay. [Read more…] about That Friday I crumbled. But still. I rise.

Stone Setting behind the scenes

March 30, 2016 by Lisa Lehmann

As a goldsmith I do a lot of stone setting in my work. Some days it goes well. Some days it’s a challenge. But. The result is beautiful ALL the time.

What is interesting is how we all take for granted our skill set. We forget that everyone else doesn’t live in our micro world! Since I started Snapchatting behind the scenes looks into my studio I have had great response. Y’all love seeing the mess behind the finished product. Who knew? (It’s those crazy filters you love…admit it!)

I thought I’d show you the tools and a bit of what goes into flush setting a teeny tiny diamond! It’s a quite a bit of steps. A great deal of focus. And often stressful! Those diamonds have a funny way of bouncing off my bench and into oblivion! Elves. Fairly sure they lie in wait for the occasional bouncing stone!

I’ve also added the link for super fast speed stone setting video I created last year! Enjoy!

And, if you are so inclined, I’m having a blast on Snapchat {{sorry teenagers}}. It’s fun showing you my very relaxed sometimes crazy studio life. Give me a follow if you are so inclined! [Read more…] about Stone Setting behind the scenes
